BILL PASSED

Members of the House of Representatives from both CCM and CUF have unanimously adopted the amendment of the constitution to pave the way for a government of national unity.
The bill for the amendment was tabled by the Minister of State, President’s Office, Constitution and Good Governance, Ramadhan Abdalla Shaaban at an emergency House meeting yesterday.
All 75 members of the Houses voted for the amendment, the 10th to the Zanzibar constitution.
This clears the way for the Isles to have a government of national unity to end the long standing political antagonism between the two political parties.
The amendment proposes a new system of government after the October General Election.
Kwahani (CCM) Rep, Ali Suleiman Ali said the GNU will end the political crisis that has been plaguing Zanzibar.
He said the new government system will be of great benefit to the future generations.
Meanwhile the CCM special National Executive Council special committee for Zanzibar has cancelled results of three constituencies for the preferential polls for the members of parliament in Unguja Island.
The CCM Zanzibar ideological and publicity Secretary, Vuai Ali Vuai said the decision has been taken after fouls were discovered to have been committed. He said the preferential election will be repeated today.
