On February 4, the U.S. Embassy in Dar es Salaam conducted a screening program of the movie "Mighty Times: The Legacy of Rosa Parks" as part of its Black History Month programming this month. Public Affairs Officer Dana L. Banks introduced the film and hosted a discussion with 45 students and professors from the Benjamin Mkapa High School. In her introductory remarks, she highlighted the meaning of black history month and the importance of citizens' active participation towards achieving civil rights in the United States. The students also raised questions on civil rights and democracy in the U.S. today, and shared their lessons learned from the film and how they can apply those lessons in their communities. The event was part of the U.S. Embassy's bi-weekly Afternoon Movie Program. — Afternoon Film Program Highlights Rosa Parks' Legacy.
