FROM EAST TO THE WEST AFRICAN COAST – IBF CONTROLING AFRICAN BOXING INDUSTRY.



TUESDAY 30, 2013 - Dar Es Salaam - The two major boxing tournaments in Africa this week makes “IBF” to control the boxing industry in Africa as it consolidates its grip on the continent’s lucrative sports sector. From the East Coast along the Indian coast line, two of the region’s“pound for pound” boxers goes for each other’s pride as they trawl for the crown!
 
 PAGE ONE:
Francis Cheka from Tanzania, arguably the most revered name in this part of the world and the current “IBF Continental Africa Super Middleweight Champion” defends his title against the dreadlocks and the man of the peopleThomas Mashali also from Tanzania. The duo will meet at the PTA Social Hall in Dar Es Salaam on May Day.
 
The duel being prompted by Adam Tanaka of Mumask Investment and Gebby Presure LTD has elicited lots of excitements as both boxers are expected to exchange fireworks during their encounter. The ring officials for this historic duel are already in Dar es Salaam.  Zambian Army Officer, John Shipanuka will be the referee while Daudi Chikwanje from Malawi, Simon Katogole and Ismail Sekisambu from Uganda are already in Dar Es Salaam as judges of this epic rumble. At the weigh-in today Ckeka weighed: 75kgswhile Mashali weighed 75 kgs respectively. They will weigh again tomorrow morning at 9 a.m. ready for the rumble in the evening.

In the West Coast along the Atlantic Ocean, in Accra, Ghana, Home to the great former champion of the world Professor Azumah Nelson, Ghanaians from all walks of life are waiting patiently for the D-Day in May 3rd, 2013when their beloved son Issa Samir meets the handsome and flamboyant Georgian slugger Robison Omshashavili for the “IBF World Jr. Middleweight Youth Title”.
 
 The tournament has "mesmerized" Ghanaian boxing fraternity as for the past two months Accra residents have been meeting in small groups talking about this auspicious rumble and which will forever change the boxing landscape of Ghana! Christened “The Battle for the Gold Coast” the tournament rekindles the memory when Professor Azumah Nelson hosted Sidnei Dal Rovere in a similar battle at the Accra Sports Stadium in 1988.
 
 Robison Omshashavili with the record of 11-4, 6 KOs goes in the tournament armed with history of great accomplishments. While Issa Samir(12-0, 11 KOs) on the other hand, “charming, articulate as well as cunning" slugger extort fears to his opponents throughout West African region. Samir carries heavy punches masquerading as a “novice” when approaches his opponents’ in the ring before he lure them to his WEB. No wonder why he has shortened boxing lives of so many boxers!
 
 Supporting this major tournament is none other than “Princess Helen Joseph” from Nigerian royal boxing fraternity who meets Marianna Gulyasfrom Hungary. Helen’s last date in the ring was in December 2012 when she met and lost to Dahianna Santana of Dominican Republic in the fiercest duel of her life. Now she is going for the “IBF Intercontinental Featherweight Female Championships”.
 
 The man whose boxing stakeholders regards as another Sugar Ray Leonardin the making is Ghanaian Albert Mensah. The polished and stylist Mensahwill meet the boastful and showy slugger Ben Odemattey. The two arch enemies are expected to exchange fireworks to settle the score when angling for the “IBF vacant Continental Africa Jr. Welterweight Crown”
 
 The tournament is a fine work of two of the Ghanaians promotional gurus,Henry Many-Spain and Michael Tetteh of GoldMike Boxing Promotion. The two are aided by Kofi Dakku-Rickettes who is arguably the most accomplished boxing trainer Ghanaian has ever had! The tournament takes place at the May 3rd, 2013 at the Accra Sports Arena in Ghana!
 
 This is "Hurrah for IBF" as it runs Amok in African boxing fraternity setting pace in this lucrative boxing industry!
