Dual Citizenship: A “Thank You” Note from the Tanzanian Diaspora People, Communities and Institutions

Dear The Tanzanian Diaspora People, Communities and Institutions,

We, the Leaders of the various Tanzanian communities and institutions in the United States, are deeply obliged to thank you for your contribution to support the activities associated with the filing of the petition for dual citizenship in the Constituent’s Assembly.  It is with great gratitude and humility that we write in appreciation of your generous contributions. Your kind contributions have helped us meet some of the expenses associated with the activities to support the filing of our petition in the Constituent’s Assembly that is meeting and holding its sessions in Dodoma, Tanzania as we are writing this note of appreciation.

Some of the expenses already incurred are those related to:
  • the process of writing the “schedule of amendment” (which required further research detailing how the issue of dual citizenship is perceived in Tanzania and how it is presented in the Constituent’s Assembly),
  • the writing of a proposal to raise awareness on the applicability of dual citizenship for Tanzanians and how to raise more funds if there will be a need to do so;
  • the designing and the printing of flyers and brochures that will be used in raising awareness on the petition for dual citizenship and its importance to the Tanzanian Society;
  • the miscellaneous expenses that have emerged due to the different activities and events which required to be supported by the funds from the Diaspora.

The Constituent’s Assembly has resumed its activities as of August 4th,  2014, and it will continue its sessions for sixty days. Eventually, the Diaspora will incur more expenses as they emerge. The Diaspora will use the remaining available funds to meet these expenses. For instance, a special seminar will be offered by the Citizenship and Immigration Experts from the University of Dar es Salaam (Centre for the Study of Forced Immigration) to the CA Committee members. The seminar will be sponsored by the Tanzanian Diaspora.

We, the Leaders of the Tanzanian Communities and Institutions, have no words to express the gratitude for the interests you have taken in supporting the dual citizenship cause and our representative in the Constituent’s Assembly, Honourable Kadari Singo takes seriously the mandate given to him to represent the Diaspora as he works tirelessly with your leaders to ensure the endorsement of the filed petition and its possibility of becoming a law in the new Tanzanian constitution. We intend to support him for his tireless efforts and endevors to represent our motion and interests in the above-mentioned Assembly.

We will keep you posted on all major events that are to follow in regards to our dual citizenship efforts. Thank you very much for your contributions. They are much appreciated.

On behalf of the leaders of the Tanzanian Communities and Institutions in the United States, who authorized the release of this note in a teleconference held on August 6th, 2014,

Can you please post or give us the link to the documents mentioned here - the schedule of amendment, the proposal to raise awareness .. and how to rase funds and the flyers and brochures. As diasporans we need to have access to these things. Thanks and all the best!
