FORUM SESSION: Human Resources for Health
Dr. Gideon Mlawa MD MRCPUK, SCE graduated in Trakia University, Bulgaria. He further specialized in Endocrinology & Diabetes/General Internal Medicine in the UK with both the Wessex and London Deaneries. His current role is Consultant Physician in Diabetes and Endocrinology/General Internal Medicine at Queens Hospital Romford in London. He is the training programme director for internal Medicine trainees both at Queen`s Hospital and King George Hospital and currently a clinical lead in acute medicine. He is also one of the founding members of the Tanzania UK Healthcare Diaspora Association (TUHEDA) and interim treasurer. His special interest includes Diabetes in pregnancy, Diabetes, and Technology including Insulin pumps, thyroid disorders as well as pituitary disorders.
Dr. Harrieth Gabone-Mwalupindi is an Assistant Nursing Professor at South University, West Palm Beach Campus in Florida USA. Dr. Harrieth has 20 years of academic and clinical nursing experience and has taught women’s health and neonates, pediatric courses, and adult medical and surgical health content in multiple universities. Previously, Dr. Harrieth was a clinical nursing educator for a level III High Risk and High Acute Obstetric department.
FORUM SESSION: Health Venture Experiences in Tanzania
Sonali Korde is serving as Senior Policy Advisor on USAID's Ebola response.  Having worked for USAID in various roles since 2004, she has background in legislative affairs, national security policy, infectious diseases and emergency response, malaria, maternal child health, procurement supply chain management and market dynamics, and previously worked in management consulting and finance before joining the U.S. government.  She most recently served as Director, Office of Legislative Affairs at USAID's Bureau for Legislative and Public Affairs.  In this role, she provided strategic and operational oversight of USAID's strategic engagement with the U.S. Congress.  This includes the negotiation of USAID legislative issues with Members of Congress, their committees, and staff.  Ms. Korde previously served on the National Security Council staff as Director, Global Health and Development.  In this role, she supported all aspects of the US government’s global health portfolio and linkages into broader development, security and bilateral diplomacy and cooperation goals.  She supported NSC’s coordination of the interagency Ebola response, other emerging infectious disease responses including MERS and Zika, and the Global Health Security Agenda.  Prior to joining the NSC, she served as USAID Foreign Affairs Fellow in the Office of Congresswoman Nita Lowey, Ranking Member of the House Appropriations Committee and Subcommittee for State and Foreign Operations.  From 2005 until 2013, Ms. Korde served as a Senior Technical Advisor for the President's Malaria Initiative.  She was responsible for managing integrated malaria and public health programs in Africa and Asia in coordination with multilateral and bilateral donor partners, WHO and other UN organizations, NGOs, and government counterparts. Ms. Korde has MA in International Relations from Yale University and a BS in Economics from New York University.
Dr. Christopher Comey was born in Yonkers, New York and was raised in New Jersey.  He then attended The College of William and Mary in Virginia. Dr. Comey received his medical degree at UMDNJ-Robert Wood Johnson Medical School. After completing a residency in Neurological Surgery Dr. Comey did a fellowship in Complex Spine Surgery at Emory University. He then settled in Western Massachusetts in private practice but remained active in teaching and consulting with medical device manufacturers. Dr. Comey became interested in medical leadership and has been a surgical leader at 3 different hospitals and a surgery center.  He currently serves as Chairman of Surgery and physician executive for the surgical service line at St. Francis Hospital in Hartford Connecticut.   Dr. Comey was introduced to the wonderful people of Tanzania by his friend and colleague Dr. Mary Banda. For almost 5 years he has worked with surgical colleagues at Bugando Medical Center in Mwanza to teach Spine surgery techniques.
Gael O’Sullivan. A social and behavior change expert with more than three decades of experience, Ms. O'Sullivan's health communication and social and commercial marketing skills have shaped projects addressing pandemic threats such as avian influenza in addition to projects focused on family planning, reproductive health, HIV/AIDS, tobacco control and prevention, harmful alcohol consumption, chronic disease prevention, and child health in the U.S. and worldwide. Currently, Ms. O’Sullivan is a Project Director with Georgetown University’s Business for Impact program at the McDonough School of Business, where she provides technical assistance to the Global Smart Drinking Goals (GSDG) initiative. GSDG is addressing harmful alcohol-related behaviors in six countries: Belgium, Brazil, China, Mexico, South Africa, and the United States.  Ms. O’Sullivan has a B.S. degree in French from Georgetown University and an MBA from George Washingon University. She is a founding board member of the International Social Marketing Association and currently serves on the board of Humanity and Inclusion-US. 
LUNCH SESSION: Community Engagement Continuum of Care
Dr. Anita Mwalui is a wellness practitioner, community health researcher and public health practitioner who has spent a decade developing strategies to improve community engagement in the hard to reach communities and populations. Community Engagement took root in Dr. Mwalui’s early work during graduate school and later her doctoral study working as a chronic disease educator where she saw the need to engage communities to think of good health as an asset. Her work presented as a frontline effort that led to collaboration with community partners who provided services on a sliding scale for the underserved and uninsured. Dr. Mwalui emphasizes the importance of culturally appropriate strategies in education where cultural civility influences the continuum of her work. The importance of access to resources is the core of Dr. Mwalui’s vision of community engagement and consultation group Inc. That’s how Community Engagement and Consultation Group Inc. was born: as a central home for “work-source solutions”.
