Dr. Ali Salim Ali is an HIV Specialist, Public Health and Clinical Medicine Practitioner. He is Executive Director for Mnazi Mmoja Referral Hospital Zanzibar from 2016, Previously he served as Executive DirectorZanzibar AIDS Commission. He also worked for the University of Washington through ITECH-Namibia, Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation supporting MOH Botswana. Prior to joining ACHAP in 2006, Dr. Ali served as Director of Health Services at the Ministry of Health, Zanzibar. From 2000 to 2006 he held several posts within MOH, Zanzibar-Tanzania; Consultant Physician, Head of the Department of Internal Medicine, Director of PHL (Pemba Public Health Laboratory Ivo De Canero), HIV/AIDS Clinical Coordinator for ZACP. He has provided clinical and public health oversight at national and international levels in the area of Non-Communicable Diseases, HIV/AIDS, Blood Transfusion and Tuberculosis with a special interest in capacity development andHealth System Strengtheningstrengthening. He holds degrees in Medicine, several postgraduate diplomas, a Master in Medicine (Internal Medicine) and a Master of Philosophy in HIV/AIDS Management from the University of Stellenbosch.

Ambassador Liberata Mulamula is a career diplomat with 35 years of experience having served in various capacities at the Tanzania Ministry of Foreign Affairs and its diplomatic missions in New York (Permanent Mission to the UN), Canada and the USA.

Ms. Lulu Ng’wanakilala is an expert in Leadership, Human Rights, Gender and development programs. Currently, the CEO of the Legal Services Facility, previously, Country Representative for Engender Health, and the Executive Director of UMATI. She has 19 years experience working on Women Rights and Empowerment, Youth and Adolescent Sexual Reproductive Health and Rights, and Human Rights. Ms. Ng’wanakilala holds an LLB Bachelor of Laws degree from University of Dar es salaam, Masters in International Law and Human Rights from the University of Liverpool, UK, Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development from the UK and a Postgraduate in Business and Management from the Liverpool John Moores University in the UK. Leadership in Strategic Health Communication from Johns Hopkins University, School of Public Health, Center for Communication Programs (CCP). She is the Board Chairperson of White Ribbon Alliance for Safe Motherhood Tanzania (WRATZ), has been the Vice-Chairperson of the Tanzania Women Lawyers Association (TAWLA) , she is the Vice-Chairperson of the Tanzania Forestry Fund (TaFF), International Board Trustee Member, Railway Children Africa (RCA), member Board of Trustees, SOS Children’s Villages, Board Director of the Tanzania Women of Achievement (TWA), A founding and board member for Tanzania Center for Communication and Development (TCDC), an affiliate of Johns Hopkins University.

FORUM SESSION: Health Ventures in Tanzania

Mr. Salim Omar is a young passionate Tanzanian, the Founder and Executive Director of Green Light Foundation, an inspiration and motivational community-based, non-profit organization that aimed at promoting Educational Empowerment, Health Development and Youth Development based in Zanzibar Tanzania. He is also the CEO of two companies, ZEST Limited Technology Trust and G-TECH Company Limited that provide ICT and Digital Solutions in Tanzania. Through his commendable contribution in Education, Youth development and Health Sector in Zanzibar and Tanzania at large, he was honored with a Lighting award by Washtaa All Stars Students Awards (WASSA) in 2017 and last year again , He was ranked as 14th Most Influential Young Tanzania in 2018 by Avance Media.

Dr. Henry Ziegler is the President of Tanzania Health Foundation since 2012. He has an M.D. from McGill University, an M.P.H. from Johns Hopkins University,. He has held faculty appointments with three different U.S. medical schools and currently is a clinical assistant professor of medicine at the Wisconsin College of Medicine and a clinical assistant professor of Global Health at the University of Washington School of Public Health. Dr. Ziegler has 30 plus years of community health/public health leadership and expertise in both the US and internationally. Over the last fourteen years, Dr. Ziegler has worked with Tanzania, the first three and a half years full time. Dr. Ziegler was Health Director for the Anglican Diocese of Dar es Salaam developing strong community health and clinical programs including comprehensive HIV/AIDS services. Dr. Ziegler’s Tanzanian team sees over 65,000 patients a year clinically, have trained over 300 village community health workers, and distributed over 90,000 treated mosquito nets in Dar es Salaam and remote areas of the Coast Region. In 2008-2009, Dr. Ziegler was Director of the Dodoma Christian Medical Centre planning for full hospital services while developing community and clinical services and management systems. In Tanzania, he is currently health advisor for the Anglican Diocese of Dar es Salaam and for SEET, a Tanzanian multifaith non-profit that he helped establish.

FORUM SESSION: Investing in Health

Mr. Fredrick Mjema is a General Partner at Azania Capital Partners, LLC and member of its Management Committee responsible for strategy development, investment evaluation, due diligence, and operations. He is the founding member of the Diaspora Council of Tanzanians in America (DICOTA) and former Chairman of the Board of Trustees. He has spent the last 15-years working primarily in energy sector management and technical roles in commercial evaluations and capital projects investments, operations field engineering, emerging technologies and techno-commercial aspects within onshore and offshore oil & gas operations. Has broad knowledge in energy private equity investments, M&A activities and commodity markets. His recent focus is on FinTech technology development and marketing. He holds a BS degree in computer engineering from the University of Dar es Salaam, an MS degree in software engineering from the University of Houston and an MBA in Energy Management from Oklahoma City University.

Ms. Joyce Matondane, a Physical Therapist by profession with 17 years of experience graduated from the University of Manchester, is the CEO and founder of Physiocare- Home health Physical Therapy practice based in Dallas, Texas. Physiocare is focusing on meeting patient needs at their home, to assess and treat wide range of physical disability that affects activities of daily living and restores function in their home environment. Joyce is also a General Partner at Azania Capital Partners and serves as the chairwoman of Healthcare committee.
