DC police officer charged with stealing from 85-year-old woman

WASHINGTON -- A District of Columbia police officer found herself on the other side of the law when she was accused of stealing money from an 85-year-old woman.
Court documents say 35-year-old Sgt. Aisha Hackley was arrested Tuesday at the headquarters of the Second District, where she works.
Hackley is accused of forging the signature of an elderly woman she met during a fraud investigation and then depositing 10 checks totaling more than $43,000.
The Metropolitan Police Department issued a statement Tuesday confirming Hackley had been arrested and her police powers had been revoked.
Her attorney, Kenneth Auerbach, did not immediately return a call seeking comment.
