In memory of Steven Kanumba

Steven Charles Kanumba
by Ruth Mukami

It was late in the night on Easter Eve
As I heard the passing of my Steve.
The shock and disbelief, indeed our hearts are torn
We cry and shout as we continue to mourn.

Little did you know I was your biggest fan
Watched all your movies since you began
From Red Valentine to Uncle JJ
The talent in your acting and the words that you say.

From the Young Billionaire to the Village Preacher
You were a role model and an excellent teacher.
And of course Lovely Gamble and Family Tears.
It's hard to believe you are no longer here.

No one can deny you were the best
Days have gone since we've laid you to rest.
To America you came but I never did meet you.
A big mistake which I will always regret too!

He played the guitar and danced the rumba
Are some of the talents of the Great Kanumba.
You were quite the chef, indeed you could cook
That bright smile, not forgetting your good looks.

One week has gone now, but it's like a dream
Hope you could hear my cries and loud screams.
Oh where, oh where, my Steve are you there?
I am looking for you, I am searching everywhere!

thanks for that nice peom, its such a tragedy that we are loosing our great stars when they are still young with so much potential,Lucky Dube died so young and now Kanumba, its breaks our hearts we the fans,i urge the other celebrities to take their lives seriously by hiring body-guards who are with them 24/7,Jay'z and beyonce and all other stars always have body-guards all the time and african artists need to do the same
