Msafiri Zawose will be playing a set at Cheick Hamala's show this Thursday at Bossa Bistro in Adams Morgan.
Msafiri is from Bagamoyo, Tanzania and plays a heavenly, rockin' limba in the traditional Gogo stylee. Below is an audio link at bandcamp where you can hear it. He also plays the zeze (pictured on the bandcamp site) and other instruments and sings beautifully. I had a chance to catch his full set at another venue a couple weeks ago and it was gorgeous. He also builds these instruments and you can purchase a limba (similar to the Zimbabwean mbira) for yourself.
