U.S. Embassy Tanzania

American People Partner with Tanzanians Leading Community Development Programs.
U.S. Ambassador Alfonso E. Lenhardt, (in black suit at the center), pose in a group photo with awarded grantees after the Ambassador's Special Self-Help Fund grants presentation ceremony held on January 16 at the U.S. Embassy in Dar es Salaam. During the presentation ceremony, he awarded Community Grants Program funds to eleven organizations working to improve the lives of Tanzanians and refugees living in Tanzania. The grants, which totaled $97,635 USD (approximately 151 million Tanzanian shillings), support five key sectors: education, economic development, water, solar power, and refugee assistance. The projects supported by the grants promote the United States' goal to partner with Tanzanians who lead efforts to promote development in their communities through their own leadership and ideas.
