Ndege ya Ethiopia ililazimika kuelekea Arusha na kutua kwenye uwanja huo mdogo kuweza kupokea ndege kubwa kutokana na kuishiwa mafuta.PICHA|MAKTABA
Arusha.Abiria 213 waliokuwa wakisafiri na ndege ya Shirika la Ndege la Ethiopia jana walinusurika kifo baada ya ndege hiyo kutua kwa dharura katika uwanja mdogo wa Arusha.
Ndege hiyo aina ya Boeing 767, ilitua saa 6.45 mchana katika uwanja huo baada ya kushindwa kutua katika Uwanja wa Ndege wa Kimataifa wa Kilimanjaro (Kia) kutokana na kupata pancha kwa ndege nyingine inayomilikiwa Shirika la Ndege la Tanganyika (TFC), kwenye njia ya uwanja huo.
Ndege ya Ethiopia ililazimika kuelekea Arusha na kutua kwenye uwanja huo mdogo kuweza kupokea ndege kubwa kutokana na kuishiwa mafuta.
Ndege hiyo iliyokuwa inatokea Addis Ababa, Ethiopia ikiwa pia na wahudumu 23, baada ya kutua kwenye Uwanja wa Arusha, ilinasa kwenye tope baada ya tairi lake la mbele kuvuka sehemu ambayo lami inaishia kutokana na ufupi wa njia zinazotumiwa na ndege zinapotua kwenye uwanja huo.
Jitihada za kuiondoa ndege hiyo zilishindikana jana. Ndege hiyo ilikuwa ikielekea Johannesburg, Afrika Kusini kwa kupitia Kia na Uwanja wa Ndege wa Kimataifa wa Julius Nyerere, Dar es Salaam.
Kamanda wa Polisi Mkoa wa Arusha, Liberatus Sabas alisema: “Rubani amejitahidi kutua katika uwanja huu japo ni mdogo ili kuokoa maisha ya abiria kwani walikuwa hawana mafuta ya kutosha kwenda uwanja mwingine.”
Tukio la ndege hiyo kutua kwa dharura limekuja siku chache tangu ndege ya Shirika la Ndege la Precision iliyokuwa na abiria 37 kupasuka matairi manne ilipokuwa ikitua kwenye Uwanja wa KIA Jumamosi iliyopita.

Ethiopian Airlines Flight ET-815 of 18 December 2013 - Update 1 - 19 December, 2013
Ethiopian Airlines would like to refute all unfounded speculations regarding the incident of Ethiopian flight ET-815 from Addis Ababa to Kilimanjaro of 18 December 2013. Such unfounded speculations are against international procedure and practice of incident investigation and communications.
Although Ethiopian Airlines should strictly follow the international procedures and will not make pre-judgmental statements before the incident is fully investigated by relevant and competent authorities, there was miscommunication between the control tower and the flying crew, which resulted in landing at Arusha airport. The aircraft had adequate fuel to fly to an approved alternate airport.
All passengers and crew were unharmed and have been taken to their intended destinations. The aircraft did not sustain any damage.
Ethiopian Airlines would like to apologize to its esteemed passengers for the inconveniences caused.
