The Tanzania Wildlife Research Institute (TAWIRI) warmly welcomes visitors to its exhibition booth and is pleased to share scientific knowledge and innovations in wildlife conservation.
TAWIRI's core mandate is to conduct, coordinate, and supervise wildlife research throughout Tanzania, where is responsible for disseminating timely, high-quality scientific information to support evidence-based management and sustainable utilization of the country's wildlife resources.
As the custodian of wildlife research, TAWIRI is responsible for wildlife population monitoring in various ecosystems.
The Institute also conducts surveillance on wildlife diseases, supports wildlife disease control initiatives, and monitors wildlife health across Tanzania's ecosystems.
In addition, TAWIRI promotes and facilitates the training and capacity building of Tanzanians in wildlife science and conservation.
Furthermore, the Institute plays a key advisory role by providing research-findings to the Government, wildlife management authorities, and the general public on effective strategies for conserving Tanzania's wildlife resources.
