Hawa viongozi wetu sio kwamba wamekunywa dawa ya usingizi, kwa uzoefu wangu ni kwamba wanaweza qualify for Obstructive sleep apnea(OSA) ugonjwa ambao mara nyingi wagojwa hao huwa wachovu na wakitulia mahali kama kwenye mkutano wanasinzia.Symptoms includes daytime fatigue, loud snoring, chocking or coughing while asleep, gasping for air waking up with headaches and feeling unrefreshed
Kwa kuwaangalia ningeshauri wapate Nocturnal Polysomnography test (NPSG) which is designed to rule out the presence of OSA . As we age, things are taken away from us and so we lose muscle tone which is a contributing factor for Sleep Apnea. Other factors includes Obesity, aging, large tonsils, asthma and lung issues and the size of our air way morphologically.
Untreated sleep apnea can worsen blood pressure, diabetes and heart diseases.
