In a heartbreaking case of devotion, a loyal dog refuses to leave his mate after she was killed by a car on a busy road.
The whimpering male stood guard for six hours, nudging her with his nose and trying to revive her by licking her.
When he got tired he lay next to her but frequently had to dodge speeding traffic in the road in Zhangzhou, China.

Trader Xiao Wu said: “He kept pushing her, trying to wake her up. It’s very touching.”
Xiao said the strays had arrived in the area recently, adding: “They were always together, playing and in love.”
