Notice the tubes for drip irrigation.Jihudi Leki Tatu and his Farmer's Group of 6 men and 14 women have turned their agricultural production in Tanzania around in just a few months, thanks to the USAID-funded Tanzania Agricultural Productivity Program (known as TAPP). With guidance on good agricultural practices such as correct spacing of plants, use of seedling trays and especially raised beds, they soon will be harvesting their first crop of off-season onions. Prices for onions on local markets are much higher in the off season compared tothe traditional onion-growing season, which promises greater revenues for the farmers. The new agricultural practices they have learned made this possible.
