Facebook Billionaire Sean Parker's New Bride

Founding Facebook President Sean Parker (whose estimated worth is $2 billion) married Alexandra Parker (formerly Lenas), his fiancée of two years and mother of his newborn daughter, on Saturday. The lavish “Game of Thrones”-inspired wedding is rumored to be one of Silicon Valley's most expensive, at a reported cost of $9 million, according to a story published Sunday in People magazine.

The magazine reports that the over-the-top ceremony for 300 guests took place at theVentana Inn & Spa in Big Sur, California and was officiated by the Rev. John A. Buehrens. The 24-year-old bride, a tattooed singer-songwriter, wore an Elie Saab gown. Sean, 33, and the couple’s 5-month-old daughter, Winter Victoria, were outfitted by a costume designer whose work appears in “The Lord of the Rings” films and “Xena: Warrior Princess.”It’s not the first time Alexandra and Sean have made a splash. According to New York Magazine, they met in late 2010 on the heels of Sean’s breakup with his long-term girlfriend. They became engaged after only six months of dating. The couple is known for their public displays of affection and sense of humor, attending supermodel Heidi Klum’s 2010 Halloween bash dressed as ex-couple Justin Timberlake and Britney Spears (which is especially funny because Timberlake played Sean in "The Social Network"). Alexandra wore a skimpy flesh-colored outfit and Sean a curly-haired wig. According to reports from Business Insider, Alexandra is an aspiring musician and New York socialite who is credited with helping Sean race to the hospital after he suffered an allergic reaction to peanuts during a dinner date in 2011. Alexandra gave birth to their first child this past January and it's clear she's a doting mother. On her Facebook page, there are several photos of her pregnancy and of her daughter.

Despite reports that the wedding would mirror the fantastical royal costumes featured on the hit HBO series “Game of Thrones," on the days leading up to the wedding, Sean tweeted, “Just because we don't trust our guests to dress themselves properly doesn't mean we want them to look like #GoT characters” and “Sorry to disappoint, but the wardrobe we're giving wedding guests is essentially modern. No swords or chain mail.” He also wrote on hi sFacebook wall, “The wardrobe designs we’ve made for our guests are essentially modern. This is NOT a theme wedding and there will be nothing ‘medieval’ about it. Academy-award winning costume designer Ngila Dickson created a series of outfits for everyone that are based on modern suits and dresses with some elements of Victorian flair and whimsy; however they are not at all ‘medieval.’”

Regardless, the couple splurged on lavish details. According to a story published Sunday in the New York Daily News, celebrities in attendance were Sting and his wife Trudie Styler, Jane’s Addiction singer Perry Farrell, "Girls" actress Allison Williams, Emma Watson, and Newark, N.J. Mayor Corey Booker. In April, TMZ reported that guests were expected to enter the wedding grounds through a $600,000 gate, which opened into an other-worldly nature scene with fake ruins, bridges, ponds, waterfalls, and a gated cottage in the surrounding forest.

“It was almost out of a fairy tale,” a guest told the New York Daily News. And guest Jacqueline Laurita of “The Real Housewives of New Jersey” posted on Facebook on Sunday: “Words cannot even describe how beautiful the wedding I went to yesterday was. Nothing like I've ever seen. I felt like I was in a fairy tail [sic].”

Guests enjoyed cake from Napa Valley bakeshop Perfect Endings and danced to tunes by Loreena McKennitt and The Good The Bad & The Ginger, reported the Daily Mail. The flowers, reportedly worth $1 million, were designed by award-winning event designer Preston Bailey. Celebrity photographer Mark Seliger documented the big day.

Security for the nuptials was obviously tight. The California Coastal Commission had to investigate whether the inn had obtained proper permits for the wedding-related construction, according to the y built a movie set to have their wedding," Stan Russell, head of the city's chamber of commerce, told the paper.
