Pitching in for Public Service to Celebrate Nelson Mandela on JULY 20TH

The Southern Africa Partnership Committee of the Episcopal Diocese of Washington will be sponsoring a Saturday environmental clean-up of Kingman Island on July 20th for Nelson Mandela Day, an international day of public service to celebrate living legend Nelson Mandela’s birthday (July 18).

The program is open to children, young adults, and all seeking to contribute to a cleaner Anacostia River and to learn more of the inspirational life of Nelson Mandela and his leadership in public service to South Africa and the world.

Kingman Island is located at 575 Oklahoma Avenue, N.E., near RFK Stadium. The clean up will take place from 9:00am-12:00pm. It will be hosted by SAPC. From noon-1:00pm, participants can enjoy a low-cost South African Braai (BBQ). For more information, please contact Paul Hebblethwaite at paul@slhandph.com.
