For Immediate Release

The Eastern Africa Diaspora Business Councils’ Washington, DC Forum to Connect African and American Business and Government Leaders

(Washington DC 2013)

Due to extenuating circumstances resulting from a last minute scheduling conflict this event has been moved from New York to Washington DC on September 27, 2013.

The Eastern Africa Diaspora Business Council, EADBC, will convene its first annual “Engaging the Diaspora for Eastern Africa Global Competitiveness” Business Forum in Washington DC on September 27, 2013 from 3:00 pm – 7:00 pm.  The forum is the premier event for finding and building partnerships between government and business leaders from the US and East Africa. Diaspora-catalyzed funding and investment structures in energy, technology and mission delivery will be discussed, with high level representation for five East African countries including Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, Burundi, and Rwanda

With a sub-theme of “Leveraging the Diaspora’s Technical Capacity, Innovation and Entrepreneurship”, the EADBC will engage US and East Africa public and private sector partners on achieving Trade Africa and Power Africa objectives.  The forum will produce deeper coordination between elements of the trade and development initiatives and explore trade and investment opportunities for the US private sector that are offered by the East Africa Community. Diaspora-catalyzed funding and investment structures in energy, technology and mission delivery will be discussed, with representation for five East African countries including Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, Burundi, and Rwanda.

The Business Forum will also open opportunities for building new partnerships through exclusive networking events, including a Networking Reception at 5:00 pm.   Participants will also have the opportunity to network with key African and U.S. private sector and government representatives, and learn more about engaging Diaspora resources in the Obama Administration’s Power Africa, Trade Africa and other Africa-focused initiatives.
