Listen up Jay-Z, this Muslim woman’s got something to say to you

Poet Khalil Gibran wrote, “Music is the language of the spirit”—but what happens when that language tears our spirit down?

Muslim spoken word poet Madiha Bhatti didn’t like the objectifying lyrics she heard in contemporary music. Rather than simply switching off the radio, she wrote some of her own. Watch as she warms up, then tears it up at the :30 mark. There are so many snap-worthy moments in this, our fingers hurt.

Madiha Bhatti, with all due respect, we appreciate your feedback. You make a living by writing poets. You didn't like the lyrics you heard, well this is a free world. If you don't like it, somebody else likes it. Turn off your radio or TV. Those who sings these songs makes a living out of it. They keep the US economy going. Leave it up to the consumers to decide what they buy, listen, dance or enjoy. They know very well that some words are "bad words" or some outfits are too revealing, there is democracy in this world. Those who listen to these kinds of songs are liberals, not conservatives. They love freedom of speech and not dictatorship. Once again, with all due respect Ms Bhatti, do what you have to do, but don't expect that everybody is going to agree with you!!

you go girl, what a wonderful world it would have been if we had thousands of Madia Bhatt. You are such a smart courageous girl's.so proud of you to stand up and express yourself the reality of this music which lowering women/ladies/girls all the time.

with due respect to you too, madiha bhatti she too has a right to express herself and she does not expect that every one is going to agree with her but those who are wise and smart they will. Those who don't want their young boys and girls to go astray they will agree with her.
Indeed its a free world and that's why you see Madiha expressing herself and using her democratic righ and not letting any comment dictate her or bash her around.
once again with due respect Madia Bhatti she is using her freedom of speech and democratic right to express herself and not forcing any one to agree with her, but indeed she speak the truth.
