In the Name of God; the Most Compassionate, the Most Merciful
Asalamualeikum
I kindly request a space in your blog for the documents concern Ramadhan.
This document is for Muslims and not-yet-muslims
In this document i will not use the word God because it does not specify the Almighty.
A word God has plural "Gods" and also it has feminine "Goddess" but the word Allah is unique.
So i will use Allah to represent the Almighty.
Ramadhan
Ramadhan is the ninth month of the Islamic calendar. It is the month during which Muslims observe fasting from morning twilight (Fajr Prayer) to the evening twilight (Maghreb Prayer). This time it will fall on June 18th to July 17th
Significance of the Month of Ramadhan
Ramadhan is the holiest month in the Islamic calendar. Fasting is prescribed in this month. It is a month in which the holy Qur’an was revealed [2:185]. According to some traditions ‘the Scriptures’ of Ibrahim, the Torah of Moses and the Psalms of David (peace be upon his pure progeny and all the previous prophets) were all revealed in the month of Ramadhan.
The Benefits of Fasting
Fasting is an obligation in Islam not an option. It is one of the five pillars on which Islam is built. The benefits of fasting are manifold. Fasting has personal, social, hygienic and best of all spiritual benefits.
Verily, Allah made fasting obligatory in order to equalize between the poor and the rich. Surely, the rich people would not otherwise feel the pain of hunger to be kind to the poor. For the rich will reach anything they wish. Thus, the Almighty Allah willed to equalize between His servants and to give a taste of the pain of hunger to the rich so that he becomes more lenient to the weak people and be more merciful towards the hungry ones.”
Although fasting has some social benefits, this is not the main purpose of fasting. Thus, fasting is obligatory both on the poor and the rich. The main purpose of fasting is to gain ‘self-restraint’ as stated in the holy Qur’an:
“O you who believe! Fasting is prescribed for you as it was prescribed for those before you, that you may observe self-restraint (al-Taqwa).” [2:183]
Ramadan is a time of spiritual reflection, improvement and increased devotion and worship. Muslims are expected to put more effort into following the teachings of Islam. The fast (sawm) begins at dawn and ends at sunset. In addition to abstaining from eating and drinking, Muslims also increase restraint, such as abstaining from sexual relations and generally sinful speech and behavior. The act of fasting is said to redirect the heart away from worldly activities, its purpose being to cleanse the soul by freeing it from harmful impurities. Ramadan also teaches Muslims how to better practice self-discipline, self-control, sacrifice, and empathy for those who are less fortunate; thus encouraging actions of generosity and compulsory charity.
It becomes compulsory for Muslims to start fasting when they reach puberty, so long as they are healthy and sane, and have no disabilities or illnesses. Many children endeavour to complete as many fasts as possible as practice for later life.
Exemptions to fasting are travel, menstruation, severe illness, pregnancy, and breastfeeding. However, many Muslims with medical conditions insist on fasting to satisfy their spiritual needs, although it is not recommended . Those who were unable to fast still must make up the days missed later.
In average it is 425 hrs devotion in the month of Ramadhan, this should certainly uplift
practising muslim to stage of higher spiritual achievement, this is equivalent to 5% of
354 days of lunar calendar. 425 hours of intensive study could lead someone to get
diploma at university.
Ramadhan follows Lunar calendar, thus why it keep rotating throughout the season
of the year.
If it was fixed it could have been some people always have shorter days and some
longer days but Allah is wise and not favouring.
During this islamic fasting every part of the body that has been given to us as trust by
Allah is put to a critical test.We must see no evil, hear no evil, utter evil or act evil.

The main purpose is to obey Allah and to have faith on him.Through this muslim can
develop an all-round personality and willpower.
develop an all-round personality and willpower.
A person can hide or go to secret places and eat or do anything during these days and
nobody will know but because he fear Allah and knows that we cannot see him but he can see us.
If Muslims can do on this during month of Ramadan why not doing it in some other
times. If Muslims can do this on month of Ramadhan why not continue on eleven
remaining months, this will give Muslims the level of the training that have
been achieved during Ramadhan.
Will continue inshaAllah
Wa billahi Tawfiq
