CONVERSATION ON TANZANIA'S HISTORY: REVISITING UJAMAA

Revisiting Ujamaa: Is president Magufuli of Tanzania the new Nyerere? How relevent are Nyerere's Ujamaa principles in Magufuli's Tanzania?

ABOUT UJAMAA:

Ujamaa which means 'extended family', 'brotherhood' or 'socialism', was the concept that formed the basis of Tanzania’s first president Mwalimu Julius K. Nyerere's social and economic development policies in Tanzania after it gained independence from Britain in 1961. Mwalimu Julius Nyerere used Ujamaa as the basis for a national development project. He translated the Ujamaa concept into a political-economic management model through several means.
The creation of a one-party system
The institutionalization of social, economic, and political equality
The villagization of production
Self-reliance
The implementation of free and compulsory education for all Tanzanians
The creation of a Tanzanian rather than tribal identity through means such as the use of Swahili

About Tanzania’s history to be shared events:

One of the greatest benefits of sharing history is that it allows us a chance to learn about who we came from. The people of the past are those who came before us, and it is interesting to see how some of the thoughts, attitudes, and practices of today can differ so drastically from those throughout history. On the other side of that coin, it can be fun to learn about ideas that began 100 years ago that are still a modern day issue. During this historic month, we look to introduce you to Tanzanian history.

Thank you. but i dought this has nothing to do with going back to Ujamaa!! why? Tanzania has overcome a very tough situation through four terms since Nyerere! who has been in for 23 years! This we can call it! Kipindi cha mabadiliko kwa WaTanzania tusirudishane nyuma kwenye Ujamaa!
WE have so many individuals who are very rich and others are sufferring. Its not a time of having No desk in schools, hospital beds, medication, good roads, and graduates to secure jobs in Tanzania when graduates from their degrees or masters!
Its good idea but discussing Ujamaa is something else!! Thanks.
