MIMI NAJIVUNIA KUWA MTANZANIA, AMANI, UMOJA

Mr.Tz aka SanTz" (Mr. Tanzania aka Son of Tzed)

There is something that has been bothering me for awhile now and I would like to take this opportunity to speak on it. Since I was little, I would tell people I am from Tanzania and nobody would know where it was or people would say "Wow, you're the first Tanzanian I've met!!" which has made me determined to showcase my Tanzanian identity in everything I do, hence my stage name "Mr.Tz aka SanTz" (Mr. Tanzania aka Son of Tzed).

For years now, I've been carrying Tanzania everywhere I go but I continuously seem to feel like I am the only Tanzanian everywhere I go. Now, me being heavily involved in the Tanzanian community in the DMV area, I know for a fact that there are Tanzanian's everywhere, a lot of us, so why do I feel alone?

The point that I am trying to get across is that we need to be proud of where we come from no matter what the circumstances are. We need to show are colors, represent ourselves as Tanzanians and nothing else simply because that is who we are, Tanzanians. We need to teach our children our beautiful language of Swahili, our culture, our traditions. "Asili Haipotei" meaning roots shall never be lost is something my parents always used to tell me when I was younger and it is something that has always stuck with me and it is something I live by til this day. No matter where I go, people will know that I am Tanzanian and all of us should be the same way and have the same mindset.

We need to be proud of where we come from, despite all the problems facing our country, Tanzania is truly blessed not only as a country, not only because we have places like Mt. Kilimanjaro, Lake Victoria and Lake Tanganyika, Serengeti, Oludavi Gorge, Ngorongoro, Zanzibar, Bagamoyo and minerals like Tanzanite but also our people..Our people, our culture, our music, our language it is all so beautiful, so why not be proud? Why not showcase ourselves as Tanzanians everywhere we go?

This year of 2016 and for the many other years to come, I want us as Tanzanians to be united, to stay together and to stand up high and proud and to raise our flag to the sky.

Show people what we are really about and the beautiful country we represent. #AsiliHaipotei 💉 #One4Tanzania 🇹🇿 "Mimi najivunia kuwa MTanzania, Amani, Umoja.." . Rise above and be proud to Tanzanian. - Mr.Tz aka SanTz
