My name is Dr. Saaban Fundi. Last year I  opened up a one roomed after school program for kids in Turiani, Morogoro (a small town I grew up in in Tanzania). Kibogoji Experiential Learning Center is an innovative education center that seek to bridge instructional and technology gap between rural and urban schools in Tanzania. The model we are using to run the center is completely supported by innovative education research. It is very efficient, effective in education outcome measures, and easily scalable due to low cost of implementation.

Our main focus at the moment are:

1. to increase access to quality early childhood education especially in rural areas where the opportunity does not exist.

2. to offer quality after school enrichment programs for primary and secondary school aged students.

3. to offer experiential learning for students through career exploration.

The center opened its doors in January 2017 with 25 students in a one roomed classroom. However, due to high demand for our early childhood and after school enrichment education programs, we currently have 120 registered students and the number is growing each day.

Thus, our  one roomed classroom space is very limited and we would like to expand soonest to reach more kids.

The program is currently free of charge. However, as we grow, we will introduce a cost sharing mechanism to make our work sustainable and self-sustaining. Our hopes are that by the end of this year the center will be able to run itself financially after the capital investment for a building and learning and teaching equipments.

To get to sustainability,  the center has developed three budgets below. This where we need your help.

$3200 to finish constructing our new two classroom building with a teachers' office.

$1200 to construct bathrooms.

$2500 to create child friendly environment for the students including swings, slides, and a field for sports.

$650 for chairs and desks for the two classrooms.

Once the first center is in full operation mode, we hope to expand the same model to other rural areas of the country.
