Cameroonian Crisis Town-hall

Dear Community Members,

On behalf of the African Community in Montgomery County, I would like to request your attendance at a Town Hall Briefing on the Humanitarian Crisis in the Cameroons hosted in partnership with the Montgomery County Office of Human rights and Office of Community Partnerships on Saturday, June 22, 2019 at 5 pm at the Executive Office Building, 101 Monroe Street, Rockville, MD.

As you may or may not know, human right groups are raising the alarm about the escalating violence and humanitarian emergency in Cameroon. What started as a struggle for equality and justice by citizens of South Cameroon, has spiraled into a full-blown crisis. Rebel groups seeking an end to what they consider domination of the Anglophone South by the Francophone North have taken up weapons against the government security forces, causing thousands to die. Approximately 437,000 people are internally displaced across the affected provinces. The Town Hall will give you a chance to dialogue with and work with hundreds of African community leaders to coordinate a response.

Kindly see flyer below.

Kind regards,

Harriet Shangarai
