TANAPA WINS THE EU QUALITY CHOICE DIAMOND PRIZE 2025 FOR SIX CONSECUTIVE YEARS

TANZANIA National Parks (TANAPA) has once again scooped the prestigious European Quality Choice Diamond award in 2025, for its highest level of tourism service provisions, elevating Tanzania’s stature as a premier tourist destination.

The illustrious award, conferred by the renowned European Society for Quality Research (ESQR) on May 29, 2025, marks the sixth consecutive win for TANAPA, attesting its exemplary and all-inclusive best practices in tourism service provisions and conservation initiatives.

During a high-profile gala dinner and awards ceremony held in Stockholm, Sweden, the ESQR’s Chief Executive Advisor, Mr Michael Harris announced, “Tanzania National Parks has been bestowed with the Quality Choice Diamond Prize 2025 in recognition of its exceptional practices in conservation and tourism services.”

 

Tanzania Ambassador to Sweden, HE Mobhare Matinyi, TANAPA Conservation Commissioner, CPA Mussa Nasoro Kuji, Southern Zonal Commander, Senior Assistant Conservation Commissioner, Godwell Meing’ataki, and in charge of Quality Management system, Principal Conservation Officer, Eunice Msangi, Minister Counsellor Sweden, Mr Malik Hassan and Personal Assistant to TANAPA Conservation Commissioner, Senior Conservation Officer, Andrew Mbai proudly joined a get-together of global luminaries renowned for excellence in quality products and services at ESQR’s opulent red-carpet reception, to receive the highly coveted annual awards.

TANAPA, among ISO 9001:2015-certified institutions in Tanzania, actively promotes sustainable tourism that enhances visitor experiences, contributes to the well being of local communities, and supports national economic growth.

The prize not only reflects TANAPA’s dedication to delivering services that meet stakeholders' expectations, but also it consistently adheres to globally recognized quality management principles, including strong customer focus, leadership, process efficiency, and continuous improvement.

 

During the receipt of the award in Stockholm, on behalf of TANAPA and Tanzania in general, HE Matinyi, recognized the ESQR for its painstaking efforts in promoting global quality management and also for nominating a Tanzanian entity as among the 2025 winners.

The Ambassador also extolled TANAPA for the achievement, imploring the entity to continue putting more efforts into quality services to customers in a bid to maintain the international standards.

“Today, we are happy that, TANAPA has been recognized as among the winners of the ESQR Quality Prize 2025 Award for six consecutive years. This feat endorses the Tanzania as the premier tourist destination to international communities, and the world will essentially need to find out more information about TANAPA and Tanzania in general,” said HE Matinyi.

The Envoy pledged to make every effort to woo Swedish investors to visit Tanzania to explore the investment potentials in luxury boat and beach tourism.

Sweden is renowned for its luxury boat cruising with modernized boats.

Additionally, HE Matinyi is planning to promote vigorously Saadani National Park, unique for being the only park in Tanzania where the beach meets the bush, as the strategic attraction for both Swedish tourists and investors.

“The Saadani National Park has a great potential of attracting more investors and tourists because it can connect with the famous beach tourism practiced in Zanzibar, and hence more tourists might love to have a tour to Saadani after exhausting the beach tourism in the precious island of Zanzibar, as part of strategy to convince tourists to spend more days in the country,” added HE. Matinyi. 

Meanwhile, Moving a vote of thanks, the TANAPA Conservation Commissioner, CPA Kuji expressed sincere gratitude to the ESQR for their invitation and recognition of TANAPA’s dedication to quality management.

“We congratulate ESQR for its outstanding role in evolving quality management on a global scale, and through events like this, ESQR not only honors institutional achievements but also inspires the international community to uphold best practices, drive innovation, and cultivate a culture of continuous improvement in service delivery,” he said.

Commissioner Kuji dedicated the award to the President of Tanzania HE Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan, for her personal incredible efforts in promoting Tanzania as the leading tourist destination to the world through two valuable films; “Tanzania: The Royal Tour and The Amazing Tanzania”.

 “President Dr. Samia deserves this award owing to two reasons, one the two films she prominently participated have presented more insight about the beauty of the country to the world, and two, for her seamless guidance, directives and contribution to high-level service provision to the tourism and conservation sector in the country” Commissioner Kuji noted.

Commissioner Kuji also thanked the Ministry of Natural Resources and Tourism, under the Hon. Ambassador Dr. Pindi Hazara Chana, the TANAPA Board of Trustees, headed by General George Marwa Waitara (Rtd) and TANAPA staffs, for their joint scrupulous efforts in innovation that made possible for TANAPA being recognized for leading by example in the global conservation and tourism sectors.

At the heart of TANAPA’s mission lie seven core values, which are professionalism, accountability, integrity, teamwork spirit, efficiency, innovation and quality (PAITEIQ).

These values, together with another seven core principles of the International Quality Management Service Standard, ISO 9001:2015; that are; customer focus, leadership, engagement of people, process approach, improvements, evidence-based decision making and relationship management, puts TANAPA to the next level in enhancing the customer satisfaction and achieving continual improvement of its performance and service delivery.

The prestigious recognition of TANAPA by ESQR is not only a great honor but also a powerful declaration of the progress achieved and the values it upholds globally.
