A Tanzanian In West Virginia Killings Found Dead In Dauphin County

Police in Wellsburg, West Virginia were looking for 38-year-old Abraham Allen, after his wife and an 8-year-old boy, believed to be his son or step-son, were found dead inside their home. Police believed Allen may have been responsible and heading to his house in Susquehanna Township, Dauphin County. Police in Susquehanna Township were notified around 10 p.m. Wednesday night.

When police went to the home, they found a car that fit the description of Allen's car about a block away. Police immediately called in the Dauphin County CERT team around midnight. After failing to make contact with Allen inside, the CERT team entered the home where they found him dead.

"The SWAT Team made entry and found the subject on the second floor, deceased by hanging. I believe he had been deceased for hours preceding our arrival at that scene," said Susquehanna Township Police Chief Robert Martin.

Police believe Allen hung himself. Neighbors say, Allen hasn't been at this address in almost a year. They say, he bought the house about two years ago, with his wife, but his wife left him a short time later. Allen lived at the residence for about a year but then hasn't been seen since. Neighbors say the yard was overgrown and township crews even had to come in and clean the place up, at the request of the neighborhood.

Neighbors say despite these events, they still feel safe.

"This is very nice. People are very great. People, no one has a problem," said neighbor Koylo Sopotski.

All of the evidence gathered from the Dauphin County scene will be sent down to Brooke County, West Virginia to be used in the homicide investigation.

Story out of West Virgina:

A mother and her son are dead in what Brooke County authorities are calling a double slaying.

The killings, along Maple Avenue in Wellsburg, were reported to authorities at about 8:30 p.m. Wednesday. Also found inside the home was a 2-year old boy, who was unharmed. His connection to the deceased was not immediately made public.

Investigators are calling the situation one of the most brutal crime scene's they've seen.

As of 12:30 a.m., police were actively searching for the woman's husband, who is also the child's step-father. He's Abraham Allen and he is being considered a person of interest in the case, according to Sgt. Lester Skinner, of the Wellsburg police department.

Allen is described as a black man, in his mid 30s. He may be driving a blue Chevrolet Aveo. He's originally from Tanzania.

Just after midnight, investigators released limited information about the situation. According to Sheriff Richard Ferguson the son, who was killed, was 8-years-old and attended a Brooke County school. The sheriff has ordered a crisis intervention team at the school Thursday and also said security will be increased as a precautionary measure.

Wellsburg Police Chief Stanley Kins said a neighbor reported seeing the female victim, whose age hasn't been released, around 4 p.m. Wednesday, implying the killings happened sometime in the early evening hours.

Investigators are working on obtaining search warrants as part of their investigation.

NEWS9's Kelly Camarote remains at the scene and reports that the police and sheriff are expected to offer another briefly sometime overnight.
