You can still talk on your cell phone in the car in Maryland – until Friday oct 1,2010. That’s when the state’s hands-free law goes into effect. The legislation prohibits a driver from using a handheld phone while the vehicle is in motion. You can use hands free devices – like ear buds and Bluetooth. People found in violation will face a $40 fine for a first offense – $100 for a second offense. Delaware’s hands free law goes into effect on January second.
