Super Bowl 45 in 2011 will go down in history as the Super Bowl without cheerleaders. The Super Bowl is being held in Cowboys Stadium, a place where cheerleaders have been made famous, what is up with the ban on cheerleaders this Sunday‘s Super Bowl?
No ban, it is just that the two teams playing are two of the six teams in the NFL that do not have cheerleaders. This will be the first Super Bowl without cheerleaders since Super Bowl II, according to NFL Films President Steve Sabol, from an article in USA Today.
Where is the camera going to focus in during those quick down times when the team is in a time out or a huddle? The camera unusually zooms right in to the scantily clad cheerleaders along the sidelines. Not this Super Bowl, it will be strictly all about the game!
The six NFL teams that do not have cheerleaders are Steelers, Packers, Cleveland Browns, Chicago Bears, Detroit Lions, and the NY Giants.
The Dallas Cowboy Cheerleaders are probably the most famous of all the Cheerleaders. They became a sex symbol a few decades back and remain that way today.
Connecticut football fans most likely see more of the New England Patriots or NY Jets Cheerleaders than any of the other teams Cheerleaders, due to the fan base of these two teams in the Nutmeg State. Connecticut sports bars appear to favor the Patriots or Jets, evident by the logos of the teams found around the bar on glasses, coasters, posters, and signs.
Southern Connecticut may be more Jets territory where Northern Connecticut seems to gravitate towards New England. Both teams are highly represented in Connecticut sports bars.
