Kananura has been on the run since September last year
The Police have confirmed the arrest of Andrew Kananura aka Desh Thursday night, according to a posting on their social media page.
The posting reads: ‘Desh Kananura, the prime suspect in the murder of Kateregga was arrested last evening @ Entebbe’.
Kananura thereafter was whisked to the Special Investigations Unit at Kireka.
Kananua had been on the run since September last year following the death of his employee, Abdu Katerega, at Panamera bar. A red notice was issued for his arrest.
On the morning of September 30, Kananura is said to have tortured Katerega over a tip of sh30,000 he found him with, leading to his death.
Kananura was supposed to appear at City Hall Court on Wednesday to answer charges of murder.
His lawyer claimed that he was diagnosed in the United Kingdom with diabetes mellitus after having high blood sugar levels.
The State attorney requested for an adjournment in order to pave way for new investigations.
Kananura was charged together with Cyrus Maganda, 29, Samuel Muzulewa, 26 and Jacob Oyango, 40 who were paraded before court to answer charges of murder.
According to the State attorney, medical documents in respect to the accused indicate that he [Kananura] was discharged in October last year.
“Since the medical statements state that he was cleared, cross examination was recommended,” said the State attorney.
