For Immediate Release
(New York, NY 2013)
The Eastern Africa Diaspora Business Councils’ New York Forum to Connect African and American Business and Government Leaders

The Eastern Africa Diaspora Business Council, EADBC, will convene its first annual “Engaging the Diaspora for Eastern Africa Global Competitiveness” Business Forum at Uganda House in New York City on September 23, 2013 from 11:00 am – 5:00 pm. The forum is the premier event for finding and building partnerships between government and business leaders from the US and East Africa. Diaspora-catalyzed funding and investment structures in energy, technology and mission delivery will be discussed, with high level representation for five East African countries including Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, Burundi, and Rwanda. Key guests include the, East Africa Presidents (invited), the East Africa Secretary General Ambassador Dr. Sezibera and H.E Isaac Ruto -Chairman Council of Governors.

With a sub-theme of “Leveraging the Diaspora’s Technical Capacity, Innovation and Entrepreneurship”, the EADBC will engage US and East Africa public and private sector partners on achieving Trade Africa and Power Africa objectives. Recently, the East Africa Secretary General said that “we need to trade our way out of poverty”. The forum will produce deeper coordination between elements of the trade and development initiatives and explore trade and investment opportunities for the US private sector that are offered by the East Africa Community.

The Business Forum will also open opportunities for building new partnerships through exclusive networking events, including a Welcome Reception at 11:00 am and a Close-out Networking Reception at 5:00 pm. Participants will also have the opportunity to network with key African and U.S. private sector and government representatives, and learn more about engaging Diaspora resources in the Obama Administration’s Power Africa, Trade Africa and other Africa-focused initiatives.
