The suspects are said to be foreigners
The court ruled they could not be bailed because of security fears and possible interference in the case.
The four, said to be foreigners, are accused of aiding those who launched the attack, in which 67 were killed and 200 injured. They deny the charges.
The al-Qaeda-linked al-Shabab group said it had carried out the attack.
The men charged have been named as Mohammed Ahmed Abdi, Liban Abdullah, Adnan Ibrahim and Hussein Hassan.
Their nationalities have not been disclosed, but they are said to be ethnic Somalis.
In addition to aiding a terrorist group, they are also accused of being in Kenya illegally.
‘Sheltering gunmen’
They are the first to be charged over the four-day siege – one of the deadliest militant attacks carried in East Africa.
The police say the four accused had sheltered the attackers in their homes in Eastleigh – a Somali district of Nairobi – and that they had been in contact with the gunmen four days before the siege.
None of the men are accused of being the gunmen in the shopping centre.
The Kenyan army has said that all four of the attackers died during the siege.
One of the suspected attackers has been named as 23-year-old Somalia-born Norwegian national, Hassan Abdi Dhuhulow.
