In celebration of International Women’s Day, on March 7, the U.S. Embassy and University of Dar es Salaam’s Gender Center held a panel discussion titled “Leave No Woman Behind” for 300 women at the prestigious Nkrumah Hall on the University of Dar es Salaam campus. The U.S. Chargé d’Affaires, Dr. Inmi Patterson, and University of Dar es Salaam’s Deputy Vice Chancellor, Dr. Bonaventure Rutinwa, delivered opening remarks, while several prominent Tanzanian women participated on the panel including Vicky Ntetema, a Human Rights Activist, Joyce Mhaville, Managing Director of Independent Television Limited (ITV), Dr. Victoria Kisyombe, Founder of Selfina, Professor Costancia Rugumamu, a gender and development specialist at the University, and Abella Bateyunga, the founder of Tanzania Bora Initiatives, who served as the moderator for the discussion.
