The Tanzania National Parks (TANAPA) was honored as the third-place winner of the Best Presented Financial Statements Awards for 2023 in the government agencies category, organized by the National Board of Accountants and Auditors (NBAA). The prestigious event was held on November 29, 2024, at the APC Hotel and Conference Centre in Bunju, Dar es Salaam. TANAPA stood out among 80 private and government agencies competing in the awards.
CPA Benjamin M. Magai, Internal Auditor General, presented the awards to the winners on behalf of Dr. Natu El-maamry Mwamba, Permanent Secretary of the Treasury, who was the esteemed guest of honor. In his remarks, Magai stated, “I extend my heartfelt congratulations to all the winners across 18 categories for their outstanding work in preparing financial statements, to the more than 80 private and public agencies that participated in the event, and to the panel of experts who evaluated the submissions.”
The award was received by TANAPA staff, led by Musa Nasoro Kuji Conservation Commissioner of Tanzania National Parks, who is an accountant by profession. This accolade recognized TANAPA’s clear, accurate, and transparent financial reporting, highlighting the organization’s commitment to resource management and accountability.
To conclude the summit, NBAA board and management organized a special social tour to Mikumi National Park to promote Tanzania’s tourism initiatives, as championed by Hon. Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan through the renowned Tanzania The Royal Tour documentary. Participants will travel to Mikumi National Park via the Standard Gauge Railway (SGR) on November 30, 2024.
The Best Financial Statements Awards by NBAA serve as a significant benchmark for promoting excellence in financial reporting and accountability. These awards recognize institutions that demonstrate transparency, accuracy, and adherence to international accounting standards, fostering trust and credibility among stakeholders.
