A tornado watch has been issued for the D.C. area until 9 p.m., according to the National Weather Service. Now, a watch means that "conditions are favorable for tornadoes and severe thunderstorms in and close to the watch area" - which includes D.C., Maryland, northern Virginia, eastern West Virginia, and coastal waters. A warning would mean there is an immediate chance for tornadoes. Along with the possibility of tornadoes, we have the possibility of hail - half an inch in diameter, wind gusts to 70 mph, and dangerous lightning. There's also a flash flood watch. Guys, I would just stay inside today.
