Kenyan pastor kills self in Kiboga school dorm

A Kenyan pastor in his 30s has committed suicide in a school dormitory in Kiboga district.
Pastor Elijah Okuru Mongen was found dead in a school dormitory.
Pastor Elijah Okuru Mongen, from the Kikuyu tribe has been part of the main preachers in a week-long youth conference that ended on Saturday at Kiboga Progressive Secondary School in Kiboga town.
The 6th annual youth conference organized by youth transformation ministries international had attracted youths from Kiboga, Kyankwanzi, Hoima, Kibaale, Kampala, Mubende, Mityana, Wakiso, Mukono, Jinja and others.
Elijah, who delivered his sermon in the conference Friday evening was found dead in a school dormitory room Saturday morning.
He hung loosely on a scarf he had tied on a raised wooden post. It is said he was the only one sleeping in the room.
Kiboga district police chief, Godfrey Emojongo, who led a team of police detectives to the scene Saturday morning, said that the pastor reported at the school last Sunday for the conference.
Upon his arrival, the Kenyan asked for a separate room to sleep alone, claiming that he wanted a conducive [private] environment for intensive prayers, the police chief reported.
Ronald Muhaba, who was part of Elijah’s delegation, explained that Elijah has spent three years in Ugandaand has been ministering at Revival Church Seeta in Mukono district.
The police found a Bible open just below the deceased hanging body.
