Six die, several injured during Easter festivities

Kinondoni Regional Police Commander
(RPC), Mr Charles Kenyela
At least six people are reported dead and several others severely injured in multiple incidents over the Easter holidays in Dar es Salaam.

Among the deceased is a three day infant found in Mongo la Ndege, Ulongoni ward, in Ilala District.

Ilala Regional Police Commander, Marieta Minangi, who detailed the gruesomeness of the circumstances that the infant was found in confirmed the report.

She said the baby was found in a plastic bag in the vicinity of a house that after inquiries were made proved to be the resident of the slain child’s mother. However in a heart wrecking turn of events, the mother, Sauda Patrick is but a 14 year old teenager who, in tears, admitted to have delivered the baby on March 29.
No information has been released as to why she damped her baby. Also it is not known whether the child was even alive at birth or who the care takers of the teenager girl are or who impregnated her and whether they were aware of the incident or if they are conspirators.
In another incident, one Serafini Ameros, a Maramba Mawili resident died in Mbezi Msakuzi/ Makabe, Kinondoni District.

According to Kinondoni Regional Police Commander, he died while attending to some work at one Damian Shayo’s house.

It is reported that he was working on a septic tank and earlier assumptions have it that he fell into the sewage hole and drowned. Shayo, the owner of the house is said to have rushed to his rescue following screams from the victim.

He and the deceased’s co-worker, Pascali Shirima, jumped into the tank to help him out but were late and he drowned. The two brave men are now being treated for suffocation—Shayo at the Muhimbili National Hospital (MNH) and Shirima at the Bosch Hospital in Mbezi Luis.

The body of the deceased is preserved at the Tumbi Hospital in Kibaha District.

Also, two women lost their lives in a hit and run incident along the Mandela road in Temeke after they were run over by a speeding vehicle which then took off and is yet to be identified.
