Madonna through the ages: The 54-year-old pop icon has the face of a 20-something but she offered a rare glimpse of her much older hands as she left an office building in New York without her trademark gloves

She's rarely spotted out and about these days unless heading to Kabbalah service with her family and firmly under wraps. 

But for her meeting on Wednesday, Madonna looked lovely in an outfit that was quintessentially her. 

She'd selected jeans that were neither too ageing or agonisingly hip and had thrown a black cardigan over a T-shirt then wrapped a black and white scarf around her neck.

Rose gold jewellery adorned her wrists but they probably drew too much attention to her hands which looked hugely incongruous on the same body as the super plump, smooth face. 

It's unusual for her to leave her hands uncovered as even as a young woman, she was a fan of a lacy glove. 

And as she's got older, the mother-of-four has made this look practical as it is iconic.

She comes under fire for her scantily-clad appearances, but Madonna always executes her looks with style and detail. 

Will.i.am appeared to be taken aback as the Queen of Pop took to the stage to accept her award for Top Touring Artist at the 2013 Billboard Music Awards in Las Vegas earlier this month. 

Madonna dispensed with trousers or skirt as she graced the podium at the MGM Grand Hotel.

Instead the Like A Prayer star wore lingerie in the form of a garter belt and black stay-up stockings.

In contrast, Madonna covered up her top half by slipping on a black patterned jacket featuring a fur trim collar.

Underneath she had slipped on a fishnet body sheath, which ran all the way down her arms and looped over her fingers.
