WHERE: Karimjee Hall, Dar es Salaam
WHY: It is one year since the Minister of

collaboration with members of Parliament,
Ministers and other Government Officials and representatives from CSOs and FBOs launched
the Multi-Sectoral National Plan of Action to Prevent and Respond to Violence
Against Children in Dodoma, Tanzania. The three
year National Plan of Action (July 2013-June 2016) represents the commitment of the Government of Tanzania to address the level
of prevalence of violence against children that was exposed in the national
survey, the results of which were released in August 2011.
The Girls’
Empowerment Forum, organized in a collaboration with UN Women and UNICEF
Tanzania will provide an opportunity to obtain feedback from the key ministries
on the achievements related to planned results across the key sectors (health,
education, police, social welfare, justice), and to review and celebrate
progress made. The forum avails the opportunity for policy and decision-makers
to dialogue with children and youth on the progress and way forward on the
prevention of violence with a focus on empowering girls.
The event will bring together about
100 people from Government, NGOs, and development partners to participate in a
discussion led by 80 in-and-out-of- school children from Dar es Salaam.
