This is to provide you with a
short synopsis of a meeting held by the DC Mayor’s Office on African Affairs. As part of recognition of global Diaspora’s
week, the DC Mayors’ office on African Affair held a public meeting and panel discussion
on investing in Africa, How and Why.
Intro- Mayor’s Office On African
Affairs is a desk set aside to provide services to the District‘s African
residents such as;

Providing
grants to Community Based Organizations
·
Strengthen African Business and NGOs
·
Ensure that we remain Informed on Services and
Programs available to us
·
Strengthen the voice of African Youth and encourage civic engagement
·
Promote Multicultural awareness and culture appreciation
THE ACTUAL MEETING
·
Meeting was called to order at 11:00am by Ngozi Nmezi, Director
of DC’s office of African Affairs
·
Introduction of the key note speakers by Rodney Ford,
Spokesperson for OAA US Dept. of state
·
Opening
remarks by Linda T-Greenfield; Assistance Secretary U.S Dep. of state
·
Among the panelists were representatives from USAID’s
-Africa Bureau, Howard University – School of Business, other US agencies, NGOs
and other Cooperation working to develop definitive guidelines for African trade and Investment as well as capacity building for individuals and corporations planning to invest in Africa
