CCM should be nervous about 2015 election.

  BY MOHAMED MATOPE
Last week I had a conversation with a longtime friend who supports Edward Lowasa. He’s in his 40s, resides in Dar-es-salaam, highly educated, and heads one of the largest commercial bank in the region. He voted for President Kikwete  in 2005 and was in fact the first person who alerted me to the breadth of his support. In 2010, he voted for President Kikwete, and opposition for MP and local Government leader.
So, why Lowasa? “The whole country will be in better shape” he said, “ Mafisadi won’t like it that he’s president”. He’s very wealthy and can turn around the economy. He’ll get things moving.  Lowasa will kick buts.” He knows other supporters locally and among friends who are top rank civil servants. “They’re completely disgusted and just furious, and he’s igniting their passion. He’s telling them ‘I will make this country great again,’ and they believe him.” Mr. Lowasa is dismissed as exciting, but “we have to get excited to get up out of the chair to vote.”
Does he strike him as a genuine and patriot? Yes. “All he does is talk about how great this country is and how greater he can make it, how he wants to improve people’s lives   and improve the economy. . . . He doesn’t need this job, he’s already got everything, it’s a pay cut. He doesn’t need the stature. I think he wants the job because he wants to do it.”
Is it OK with you that the next president could be a person who was fired before from PM job because he was engaged in the biggest corruption scandal in the country’s history “It doesn’t bother me and it doesn’t bother Tanzanian people. And if you asked the people around here, they don’t care either. They just want somebody in who’s plain and simple who can get the job done.”  Otherwise, what  he cares is, “when we elect our leaders we look forward ,not backward ,after all , sitting  CCM President was  in charge of the country during that ( corruption scandal)time, wasn’t so? ”
Does it bother him that Mr. Lowasa left CCM for CHADEMA because he wants presidency desperately? He paused half a second. “It bothers me a little bit. But I think we need a very tough leader with  a combination  of great political and Government  experience .  I was disgusted with the CCM two weeks ago, during Mkutano Mkuu Dodoma, they didn’t look like they get it all together, weak and divided. I  like Mr. Magufuli , he is different kind of CCM candidate ,but the fact ,he is surrounded by the same very peoples ,I don’t anticipate him to  implement what he has been preaching on his campaign stumps ,after all, he(Magufuli) hasn’t made clear yet, which direction is  going to take our country moving forward”

Afterward, a longtime CCM operative underlined my friend’s comments on infrastructure, but from a different angle: “Lowasa intuits that Tanzanian loves this country and explain to people that the country is heading toward wrong direction and he is more qualified and equipped than Magufuli to make the country sound again”. Lowasa admits that, he is a rich man and his goal is to make every Tanzanians rich like him. “Many people connect with that narrative.”
Peoples like my acquaintance  who are independent when it comes to vote ,frustrated with the Government  ,tired with the direction the country is heading to, love CCM candidate ,but not enthusiastic with party parsee ,and are open  try out opposition despite how desperate and flaw its candidate is,are the one CCM should  be worried about the most. It’s hard to speculate how wide this kind of sentiment is distributed among Tanzanians voters - but I hear it every day- sometime I hear it coming from the staunch CCM backers.

The question is, are the Party (CCM) leaders listening?  Because in the end when it comes to the politics –  STRONG AND WRONG WINS OVER WEAK AND RIGHT.

Tusidanganyane watanzania, let us talk facts only. Ni miaka 50 na kitu toka tupate uhuru michezo na ahadi za kijinga toka kwa viongozi wa CCM ni zile zile, nothing has been done wakati majirani zetu wanaendelea sie tunarudishwa nyuma tena kwa makusudi. CCM viongozi wao ni wale wale kuanzia kamati kuu mpaka new breed kiasi kwamba they all have the same ideology na wanalindiana maslahi ya kijinga. We need a change na hiyo change will only come toka upinzani ila si CCM kwani kwa makusudi wameonyesha kutotaka kuendeleza nchi kwani lengo lao ni kujinufaisha wao binafsi huku wakiifirisi nchi.

This is clearly an amateurish political analysis or rather a political analysis by someone whose independence is severely compromised. Instead of giving us a balanced political analysis, you waste a great deal of your time telling us about your disguised personal feel for Lowasa.

I urge you to go back to the drawing board and come up with a well-reasoned full SWOT analysis of Mr. Lowasa, a guy that has had a lifelong civil service or political career. There are many questions that your analysis should answer, including the question about how he became so affluent while in civil service, etc.

The assumption that being highly educated and leading the largest commercial bank means good leadership is wrong. It is also wrong to suggest that because one is rich, s/he will make everyone rich if given leadership role. So many other factors determine the quality of a good leader. You can be educated and very rich but a poor leader, as we have seen in many countries, particularly in our own continent where the majority of our people are languishing in poverty. Also even where leadership has been good, not every citizen has become rich. You might have heard that even in the so-called developed or Western countries, though highly advanced in democratic rules, there are still many people begging in streets and others cannot afford regular meals on a daily basis. In this regard, I suggest that we listen but analyze carefully what we hear, lest we jump to conclusion, which later we may regret. This is particularly true when we discuss issues with highly educated people, as you suggest, while acknowledging that our level of education and understanding is low.

Mdau hapo juu analysis yako iko biased.
TANZANIA IS NOT A GUINEA PIG!

Bogus statements and completely manipulated story bout lowasa .CCM are more than happy seeing one of its highly corrupted tainted figure is cleansing the party for good by leaving it . Lowasa is lowasa, a greed, selfish, corrupted, tribalism, temperament and more ill fated things that make him a completely disqualify to be a commander in chief of the developing country like Tanzania. Tanzania need an honest and clean leader from all areas not because he is rich so can make the nation rich that is completely nonsense. Tanzania is resource rich country in Africa need some one honest to oversee and distributed the wealth in every conner not only for some people or part of the country. We need a leader who can lead the country without a fear or favor. We need a pure patriotic person a man of the people who knows the problem of the country from the scratch.
No one can be better than magufuli when it come to choose who can have the good qualities that can make our nation a better place to live in Africa and the world as well. Mr magufuli even after being ministering several ministries in government he did it with highly skillful and integrity he could have everything in his life if chose too, he could be a rich man than lowasa if he wanted too. He could buy lot people like lowasa to support him where ever he go in country and be looked as the beloved one but that is not magufuli a people choice the right choice . Tanzanians know him very well for what has done for his country not just blah blah but by doing lot good things. And by the election no Tanzanian can be deceived to make a wrong choice by electing a man rather than magufuli cause the difference between right and wrong of these two two man is wide open among Tanzanians. Mungu ibariki . TZ

Is not amateurish political analysis, but that is a fact.....you can't deny the truth! CCM is heading in very wrong direction, corruption, injustices areamong the things which let CCM down.

Looks like the above commentator is trying to express his/her bitter feelings by seeing CCM going down. That's the fact. CCM is falling appart plus first of all this is democracy. Anyone can switch parties whenever s/he feels like. CCM with its corruption agenda shamelessly has killed Tanzania Economy and infrastructure. For over 50 years nothing has been done by CCM other than to milk the country and lie to poor Wananchi that it brought more development. To me it's time for CCM to go and let a fresh blood come and clean the mess caused by CCM. WHAT A SHAME! By the way it's not civil dissing those who are fed up by CCM and bad leadership for them to switch parties.

CCM has been tainted by some bad elements such as Lowasa. If anything, CCM now deserves credit for taking bold steps to rid itself of the corrupt leaders, who consistently put their personal interests before those of the Country!

UKAWA cannot be counted on to turn the Country around, because it's being filled with rejects from CCM. It's simply unrealistic! "Ganda la mua la jana chungu kaona kivuno." How pathetic?

WHY do critics of CCM forget the very basic FACTS? Fact #1: All the opposition was manufactured by CCM..i.e. BRED by CCM, and thus, they are the OFSPRINGS of CCM. Fact#2: How can the very corrupt former CCM members who are hopping to the opposition expected to bring FRERSH ideas? The best they can bring to UKAWA would probably, be to teach the Mbowes and Lipumbas the best corrution technics, UKAWA STYLE! Wadau, let's not fantansize all these noises coming from Ukawa and their newly hatched corrupt son, named Lowasa. These folks are prepared to steal from Tanzania, big time, under the "safari ya matumaini" logo. Ukawa should be stopped by any means necessary, and not allowed to bribe their way to election victory; merely because, their leaders have given us a dose of what to expect. Remember? a few days ago, Lowasa disbursed Tshs.12 billions worth of bribery funds to ukawa henchmen to buy their silence? If this is not the beginning of a dangerous road for Tanzania, then what else? Mr. Matope, I hope you were not under the influence of toxic substances (pardon me!) when you penned down your analysis. The wise analysis will be for you to speak to Lowasa about the damage he is inflicting to Ukawa.

You guys need to calm down and read this well written article before you jump into conclusion. Mr Matope here acted impartial in wide range of issues,he did not attack CCM or CHADEMA,Lowasa or Magufuri,in fact his opinion favors CCM the most.He is sounding a bell alarm (worning shot) to the CCM leaders to pay attention to the ordinary people before they loose election. After all he was not the one speaking ,he quoted his friend expressing views in wide range of issues, that was not Matope's opinion, you cant pin him on that.To be honest ,I feel the same way like this Matope's banker friend.Im CCM member but I felt disconnected with the party leaders,i don't like cronyism that is deep rooted in the party,im not sure if I will vote for Lowasa ,but I listen to him very careful and open to vote either way.YOU CAN CALL ME A DRUG ADDICT TOO.

Matope you are not fair, don't alert this CCM about the Tsunami that is about to happen .I hope they are not going to take your advise of listening to the peoples.

Yes Mr Matope i concur with you bottom line (conclusion) wrong and strong triumph over weak and right.Magufuli is a right candidate, clean, hard working ans scandal less.Lowasa as you all know is known commodity ,dirty name, but he has made himself look so strong ,with the simple resonating campaign slogan and people fall for it while ignoring his past.
