Why Milk of Magnesia Is The Best Primer for Me!

By Helena Nyerere

Hey Guys! I hope you enjoyed my last post on the 12 Interesting Things About Me. Lots of positive feedback! I'm really glad you guys got to laugh through the process of getting to know me. I must admit, some of the stories about me were kind of funny. Hopefully I can share with you some more funny stories in the near future.

A lot of people I know always ask me if primer is a necessity. Well the answer is YES. When you use a primer, it allows your makeup to go on smoother and last longer. Some primers could be a bit costly, and if you're on a budget like me, then you probably have a hard time finding a primer that's within your price range. What if I was to tell you that you don't have to look any further? What if the best, most affordable primer has been right in front of your eyes this whole time?

So I'm guessing most of you have came across Milk of Magnesia before, some of you in the drugstore or probably keep a bottle in your medicine cabinet. So for those of you who don't know what Milk of Magnesia is, it is a laxative that is used to help with constipation problems. Now I know you all are thinking, "Did she just tell us to use a laxative as a primer?" The answer is YES, and I promise you you will understand why once you finish reading this post. Recently, Milk of Magnesia has gotten major attention from makeup fanatics and trust me, it's not because of constipation problems. What some people don't know is that it can be used as a pre-face beat makeup primer for the face. When you use milk of magnesia as a face primer, it keeps your makeup in place throughout the whole day which also helps your face appear less oily. It does this by creating a layer between the foundation and the face to ensure that the makeup doesn't sink into the skin under white-hot lights. Within the process, it manages to sop up excess grease, control shine, and tighten pores.

Before applying the Milk of Magnesia to your skin, make sure you shake the bottle well so you can be able to apply on the skin smoothly. I usually apply it on with a makeup brush, just to make sure that I apply even layers. Always make sure you apply it to the part of your skin that gets oily the most, which for most of you is probably the T-zone. Once your milk of magnesia is completely dry, then you can apply the foundation of your choice.

Milk of Magnesia can also be used as a face mask. You can apply it all over your face, or treat a specific spot, leave it on for as long as you like, then rinse it off. Once you complete this, it will leave a velvety smooth finish to your face. So Milk of Magnesia, doesn't only work as a primer, but it works as a mask too, and we can't forget the main function; constipation haha! What I love about Milk of Magnesia is that it's extremely affordable and it actually works. So you get 3-in-1 for a little under seven bucks! Who can beat that??? You can cop yourself some Milk of Magnesia from any drugstore, for no more than $7.
