Serengeti National Park
According to the Tanzania National Park’s Public Relations Manager, Mr Paschal Shelutete, TANAPA will be collecting the prestigious award for Serengeti on Thursday during a special occasion to be staged in Madrid, Spain.
The award was created by the Global Trade Leaders Club which is an international businessmen group with membership base of more than 7,000 associated companies globally.
On the other hand, it was created to recognize the prestige of companies and organizations working for the tourism, hotel and catering industry as a means of encouraging players in this sector which is of vital importance for the development of their respective countries.
This year’s award ceremony will be attended by tourism professionals from over 40 countries around the world and will coincide with the International Tourism Fair in Madrid, which is one of the main meeting points for the tourist industry worldwide.
Established in 1959, Serengeti is Tanzania’s oldest and most popular park, which is also a world heritage site. Serengeti is famed for its annual ungulates’ migration involving mass movements of six million hooved mammals.
The migration includes more than 1.5 million wildebeests, some 200,000 zebra and 300,000 Thompson gazelle in the territorial trek from Ngorongoro plains up to Serengeti Savannah and onto Kenya’s Maasai Mara.
