Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon
Like “Bachelor” Sean, Carey decided to become a “born again” virgin following her divorce from Tommy Mottola and a string of failed romances. And when she started dating now-husband Cannon in 2008, he had no problem waiting for their wedding night. But it’s not like he had to wait long ... they got married six weeks later! Was he worried about not sampling the goods? “It was Mariah Carey!” he told Howard Stern in 2012. “I didn’t care. In my mind, I’m with it!” The couple is now parents to twins, Moroccan and Monroe, who were born on the couple’s second wedding anniversary in 2010
Sean Lowe and Catherine Giudici
Known as the “Virgin Bachelor,” Lowe maintained throughout the taping of the show that he planned to wait until his wedding night to have sex with the woman he proposed to, even though he has previously lost his virginity. "From my perspective, I've lived life kind of selfishly for a long time," the 28-year-old conservative Christian tells People magazine in its new issue. "Now, I'm going to try to live it the way I know to be right." And his fiancée Catherine Giudici is totally fine with waiting until she becomes Mrs. Lowe. “I honor him,” she also told the magazine. Luckily for the pair, it doesn’t seem like they will have to wait too long … Lowe and Giudici plan to tie the knot during a televised ABC special very soon!
Nick Lachey and Jessica Simpson
Long before they were “Newlyweds,” Lachey and Simpson were chaste boyfriend and girlfriend. At age 12, Simpson’s father Joe gave her a purity ring vowing that he hoped that she would wait until she was married … and she claims she held true to that promise until she married Lachey in 2002 at the age of 22. “Of all the things about myself, staying a virgin until my wedding night is the thing that makes me most proud,” she said in 2004. “I've been with men who've dumped me because they couldn't believe I really didn't want to have sex. They thought it was a publicity stunt … Nick was for real. He respected me for it. It was often him having to fend me off. Boy, it was hard, but he knew I'd hate myself and him in the morning." Despite making Lachey her first, he certainly wasn't her last. The couple split in 2005. These days, Simpson clearly is not waiting for her next wedding night … she’s currently expecting her second child, a son, with fiancé Eric Johnson.
Kirk Cameron and Chelsea Noble
After growing up an atheist, the “Growing Pains” star found Christianity as a teen … and instantly became outspoken about religion, morals, and marriage. Cameron married Noble, who played his girlfriend on the ‘80s sitcom, at the age of 20 in 1991. “Sex within marriage is the only kind that’s truly fun and exciting — the kind that lasts for a lifetime,” he has reportedly said. “I’m glad I waited.” Cameron is so strict in his beliefs that he refuses to kiss any woman who is not his wife. For the 2008 movie, “Fireproof,” Noble actually stood in for the actress who was playing Cameron’s on-screen wife and filmed a kissing scene.
Adriana Lima and Marko Jaric
She may be a sexy Victoria’s Secret Angel, but that doesn’t mean she had actually had s-e-x. Lima was a proud V-card carrier until she wed Serbian basketball player Jaric in 2009 at the age of 27. “Sex is for after marriage,” she told GQ in 2006. “[Men] have to respect that this is my choice. If there’s no respect, that means they don’t want me. When we’re traveling together for the first time, we sleep in different rooms. That’s the number one thing.” Lima and Jaric seemed to have made up for lost time … the couple now have two daughters together.
Kevin and Danielle Jonas
The Jonas Brothers were as popular for their purity rings as they were for their pop songs at the height of their band’s success. But although younger JoBros Joe and Nick discretely removed theirs, oldest sibling Kevin kept his on until he swapped vows with fellow virgin Danielle DeLeasa at the age of 22. But it wasn’t exactly worth the wait, he claims. Six months after marrying Danielle, a former hairdresser, in 2010, Kevin told Bliss magazine, "After we did it, I was kind of like, that's it?" How romantic!
Ali Landry and Alejandro Monteverde
And just like Carey, Landry reclaimed her “virginity” following her 2004 annulment from Mario Lopez, who cheated on her during his bachelor party and reportedly their honeymoon … so, can anyone really blame her? "Because of the situation I was in before, I was just treading lightly, and did not want to make any mistakes in this relationship," the former “Doritos Girl” told Wendy Williams in 2012. So, she and director Monteverde, who she met at a theology class in Los Angeles, “abstained from having sex until we got married” in 2006. Today, they're parents to Estella, 5, and 17-month-old Marcelo.
