Dear Clients!
Tanzania's Fiscal Year just kicked off. The new Taxes that were recommended by the Ministry of Finance were approved by the Parliament, and have gone into effect immediately.
We feel the following might affect you, should you be planning on shipping a car to Tanzania:
The Excise Age Duty (Kodi ya Uchakavu) for Non Utility Vehicle, 10 years or older, is now 25%. So apart from approximately Tsh. 320,000 to Tsh. 440,000/ in auto registration alone, such vehicles will attract the following taxes as well:
[ 25% Import Duty] + [ 25% Excise Age] + [ 5-10% Excise Duty] + [ 18% VAT ]
All Utility Vehicles such as Pickups, Lorries and Buses will now be subject to 5% in excise duty.
There will be NO TAX EXEMPTION for:
(a) Any vehicle more than EIGHT (8) YEARS
(b) Vehicle exceeding 3000cc.(This has been prevailing since last year)
For Returned Residents, we can still ship your autos for less and advise you on the available best options we can apply.
Other items have less impact on total duties that we have been paying customs at the port of entries. We have specialists who can work with you to assist with your next shipment. Contact us today and let ATL do what we are known best for.
Sincerely,
Mr. Pius Waricoy
