Raleigh International is a youth and sustainable development charity

young people, to develop as leaders, team players and global citizens through
participating in sustainable community development and environmental protection
projects.
Raleigh International has nearly 30 years of experience of running its
programmes and expeditions around the world. Raleigh International is very
excited as we start our new operation in Tanzania, including both our highly
regarded expeditions and our new International Citizen Service programme on
behalf of the UK’s Department for International Development.
Overall purpose of the job
To support the development and delivery of Raleigh Tanzania’s National Volunteer
Programme, which engages young Tanzanian nationals in our work. You will be
part of a team that will be responsible for all aspects of the programme
including volunteer recruitment, selection, training; and support. You will
also provide opportunities to volunteers after they leave the programme, including signposting to other opportunities
and supporting the establishment of Raleigh societies in various regions of
Tanzania. This post is the second of two posts and will be predominately focussing
on the post-placement activities for our National Volunteers.
Support to other members of the permanent and volunteer staff team will
be expected, particularly in supporting team members with written and verbal
Kiswahili.
Responsibilities:
·
Work with the NVC to develop
and review the National Volunteer Strategy.
·
Work with the NVC, Country
Programme Manager (CPM) and Country Programme Leader (CPL) to implement the
National Volunteer Strategy across all of Raleigh’s programmes.
·
Promote Raleigh International
among young people in Tanzania, both directly and through other organisations, and
recruit participants in accordance with the targets set out in the National
Volunteer Strategy.
Develop a post volunteer
placement ‘Action at Home’ programme for national volunteers to continue being
engaged in Raleigh Tanzania activities.
·
Support the development of
Raleigh alumni activities in various regions of Tanzania as our Alumni grow.
Encourage their involvement in recruiting and training of future volunteers and
opportunities for their members to continue to develop.

Work as part of the team to
recruit, select and prepare them for their programmes, which include briefing
days, kit provision, English language training and support.
·
Carry out any other tasks reasonably requested by the NVC.

Experience of working with
young people of different cultures and backgrounds

Excellent verbal and
written communication skills in English and Kiswahili

Excellent planning, organisational
and time management skills

Experience of delivering

Sufficient understanding of
financial information and budgeting

Overall purpose of the job
Raleigh International operates in many rural locations in Tanzania and the
purpose of this key role will be to coordinate the safe movement of personnel and
equipment around the country in support of country programme objectives. This
will include managing a team of drivers and security guards; coordinating local
transport providers and ensuring that Raleigh Tanzania’s vehicles are
maintained in good working order at all times.
Responsibilities:
·
Line management of drivers and security guards
employed by Raleigh Tanzania, enforcing high standards of driving safety at all
times.
·
Inspection and maintenance of all Raleigh Tanzania
vehicles to manufacturers specifications and keeping clear maintenance records.
·
Ensuring Raleigh Tanzania vehicles meet legal
requirements.
·
Scheduling of driver and vehicle movements in
consultation with the CPM and to act as a driver when required.
·
Coordination of local transport providers (bus and
truck operators) to move volunteers and equipment in accordance with Raleigh
International’s standard operating procedures.
·
Negotiation with
local transport providers to ensure best value and safety, governed by written
service agreements.
·
Working as a team player in supporting Raleigh
Tanzania’s country programme delivery.
·
Carry out any other
tasks reasonably requested by the CPM.

Extensive experience in off-road driving using 4-wheel
drive vehicles.
