KIJANA WA KITANZANIA ANAYESUMBUA MAREKANI KWENYE ANGA ZA HIP HOP MINNESOTA

Open your mind. Enter the Kingdom. Embrace excellence. Accept exceptions. Yesterday, Minnesota native Allan Kingdom released a visually aided single entitled “Evergreens”, a crisp blend of futurism and foliage that sees the 20-year-old emcee once more kick traditionalism to the curb; instead, he injects a strong dosage of kinetic charisma into all that he creates. Kingdom is the embodiment of a quirky cool, outfitted in unique attire and free flowing with his style of production and cadence.

Kingdom released a notable project in Talk To Strangers last summer, which a friend would later pass along to me. The free album includes one of my favorite songs in recent memory, “The Dwelling”. Admittedly, I only cared for a handful of the record’s nine tracks; however, the several highlights were more than enough to stir much excitement for the multitalented rapper’s future. “Evergreens” confirms such a hope, both as a song and video.

The audio itself comes courtesy of two men and two men only: Kingdom, of course, who takes writing and production credits, and Plain Pat, who has seemingly taken the young upstart under his wing and co-produced the track. Curt, winding flutes provide a real feel to to the landscape, largely governed by an endless stacking of drums.

When Kingdom stares deeply into the camera, you know that he knows that he has control. Without a doubt, if he continues to walk down his current path he’ll have control over far more than a YouTube viewer.

Watch “Evergreens” below. Kingdom’s Future Memoirs EP is coming soon.
