Her Excellency Amina Salum Ali, the African Union's Ambassador to the United States and Melvin Foote, the President of the Constituency for Africa (CFA), set the tone for an African and Caribbean Business Roundtable, held in Philadelphia today. The business roundtable is part of the 39th Annual ODUNDE Festival Weekend in Philadelphia, an event that will attract some 250,000 people on Sunday. Also participating in the roundtable were the Ambassador of the Cote d'Ivoire, H.E. Daouda Diabate, and the Ambassador of Senegal, H.E. Cheikh Niang.
Ambassador Ali in her remarks, discuss the strategy of the African Union to engage the Diaspora as the Sixth Region of Africa. Mr. Foote of CFA briefed participants on the upcoming White House African Heads of State Summit, which will take place in Washington betweenAugust 4 - 6th.
