Singer WANTED for a BAND in the USA!

Hi there Southern African Entertainment in the USA,

My name is Matthew Perrone, I'm a local DC musician and fan of African music. I'm contacting you today to see if you might know anyone who would be interested in an opportunity to become the singer for a major new afrobeat-influenced group I am putting together with four other musicians.

We are all veterans of the DC and NYC music scenes and have helped form a number of other successful bands in the funk, latin and afro-brazilian style. Here are some of our past projects:

As a producer of some of the biggest African events in the DMV I thought you might perhaps know some some vocalists who might be interested in this project. We all have deep ties to the local music scenes here and in NYC, so once we find the right singer we will very quickly begin gigging at large venues.

Here's the ad we have been circulating below. Even if you don't know anyone, I would really appreciate any feedback or suggestions on how we might find someone who would be interested in this project. Thanks very much and feel free to email with any questions of suggestions

Matt

Singer Needed for Major New Afrobeat/Rock/Dance Band (DC)

Seeking an adventurous, ambitious, soulful singer to front a new band that combines the sounds of Afrobeat artists like Fela Kuti with the edge of modern rock, including bands like MGMT, Talking Heads and many more.

We are five experienced musicians who have been writing original material together for about six months. All of us have spent many years playing and recording across a range of styles, including latin, funk and alternative rock. Our previous bands have played the major rock clubs in DC, New York and beyond. We have direct ties to booking agents and record labels that will quickly make this a serious musical venture.

We are looking for someone with vocal chops, stage presence and a willingness to experiment with new sounds and styles. Familiarity with classic soul, funk and afrobeat is major plus, but not essential.
We are eager to collaborate with people of all backgrounds, races, orientations, etc. One of our biggest hopes for this project is to break down barriers that too often divide people/scenes in DC.

If this sounds interesting please drop us a line with some audio and video (if possible) and a little information about yourself. Thanks much
