Strengthening Healthcare Infrastructure in Africa Roundtable

Strengthening Healthcare Infrastructure in Africa Roundtable
 Tuesday, September 19, 2017.

As part of CFA’s annual Ronald H. Brown African Affairs Series, this roundtable is being organized by CFA’s African Healthcare Infrastructure Committee (AHIC), in cooperation with the African Union Mission in Washington, DC.

Today marks the 3rd year since the African Healthcare Infrastructure Committee emerged as a result of the Ebola epidemic in west Africa.
Three years ago many gathered in the offices of the African Union in Washington DC, for a brainstorming session which led to strong commitment from members of the African Diaspora. "We must never wait for another crisis before we act". Since then the African Healthcare Infrastructure Committee has been working with stakeholders to put proactive strategies in place in order to strengthen the overall healthcare infrastructure in the continent.

Some of the Initial steps was to identify key stakeholders in the US, Africa and within the Diaspora. Maximize Diaspora participation, use of information Communication Technologies (ICTs) building and facilitating partnership, collaborations and minimize duplication of effort.

Today we thank our African Union  Ambassador, HE. Arikana Chihombori-Quao, for reminding us the role and the responsibilities of the African Diaspora in regard to the continent. Thanks to the  Hon. Donna Christen, Amb. Jenkins, CFA Board of Directors and the CFA president Melvin Foote. Our partners, sponsers and stakeholders @ Harvard Medical School , Global Emerging Pathogens Treatment Consortium, Stella-Maris Patchafoundation,  Kibwe Engeneering, Elliott School of International Affairs at George Washington University, Nixon Peabody LLP, Cannabis Science Research, Checron, Gilead Science and African Union Mission to the United States.
