SAHARA CONSULT AND TIE SIGN MoU TO ADVANCE EDUCATION INNOVATION AND DIGITAL TRANSFORMATION

Dar es Salaam, Tanzania – 29 June 2026 –

SAHARA Consult Company Limited and the Tanzania Institute of Education (TIE) have today signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to establish a strategic partnership aimed at accelerating the adoption, integration, and scaling of Education Technology (EdTech) solutions within Tanzania's basic education system. The partnership is designed to strengthen digital transformation in education while ensuring that innovation is aligned with national curriculum standards and education priorities.

The collaboration aligns with the aspirations of Tanzania Development Vision 2050, which recognises education, innovation, digital transformation, and human capital development as key enablers of a competitive and knowledge-based economy. By supporting the integration of technology into teaching and learning and creating structured pathways for the adoption of locally developed EdTech solutions, the partnership will contribute to building an education system that equips learners with the skills required for the future.

The five-year partnership brings together TIE's mandate in curriculum development and educational quality assurance with Sahara Consult's expertise in innovation, entrepreneurship, digital transformation, and EdTech ecosystem development. Through this collaboration, the two institutions will work together to develop national EdTech Adoption Guidelines, strengthen curriculum ICT integration, enhance teacher capacity, facilitate collaboration between curriculum developers and EdTech innovators, and establish an EdTech Testbed (Sandbox) for the piloting and evaluation of digital learning solutions. The partnership will also promote joint research, knowledge sharing, monitoring, evaluation, and evidence generation to support informed policy development and effective programme implementation.

Speaking at the signing ceremony, Dr. Aneth Komba, Director General of TIE, said: “This partnership comes at a timely moment as TIE continues to implement the improved curriculum, which places strong emphasis on the integration of ICT and other technologies in teaching and learning. We believe the implementation of this agreement will strengthen the objectives of the curriculum reforms, particularly the goal of preparing learners with 21st-century skills, including the effective use of education technologies.”

Mr Jumanne Rajabu Mtambalike, Chief Executive Officer of Sahara Consult, said:“Sahara Consult is honoured to partner with the Tanzania Institute of Education in advancing a shared vision for a more innovative, inclusive, and future-ready education system. This collaboration represents an important step in strengthening the connection between curriculum development, technology, research, and practical innovation.

As Tanzania continues to embrace digital transformation in education, we believe that meaningful progress will come from strong partnerships between public institutions, private sector actors, academia, development partners, and innovators. Through this partnership, Sahara Consult will bring its experience in innovation, impact consulting, ecosystem building, and EdTech acceleration to support practical solutions that improve teaching, learning, and education outcomes.

Together with TIE, we are committed to creating pathways for evidence-based innovation, supporting the integration of relevant education technologies, and contributing to transformative change that prepares learners, teachers, and institutions for the future.”

The partnership between the Tanzania Institute of Education and Sahara Consult marks a significant step toward strengthening Tanzania’s education innovation ecosystem. By bringing together curriculum expertise, technology, research, entrepreneurship, and practical implementation support, the collaboration will help create a stronger bridge between education policy, classroom needs, and locally developed EdTech solutions. Both institutions reaffirm their commitment to advancing inclusive, relevant, and future-ready learning that empowers teachers, supports learners, and contributes to Tanzania’s broader digital transformation and human capital development agenda.
